The creation of a dance piece undoubtedly emerges from the choreographer’s long-term accumulation of time, thought, and countless cycles of reflection and negotiation. The most essential material in choreography—the dancer—is the decisive factor that shapes the work’s final form. If we see dance performance as an act that evokes the audience’s sensibility, how can such seemingly abstract movements stir awareness within both performer and observer?
Through bodily motion, dance generates a sense of temporality, and the continuous flow of movement gives rise to spatial transformation. In essence, choreography is the art of arranging time and space. Yet, during the creative process, what materials are chosen, and which are excluded? How does the dancer translate the choreographer’s ideas into physical expression and walk alongside them toward a shared understanding?
In this work, participants are invited to experience the choreographic process themselves. Each performer reflects on the diversity of everyday movements, interpreting them through their own intuitive sense and embodied awareness. Through this exploration, the piece contemplates how the body connects with oneself and with others—revealing the delicate balance between individuality and collective consciousness found within the act of movement.

Anarchy Dance Theatre was founded in 2010, Anarchy Dance Theatre is a performance company centered on modern dance. The creative process of which serves as a focal point for contemplating how we connect and relate to one another as humans. Anarchy also actively incorporates cutting edge technology in its creative productions, serving as a reflection on the potentials and limits of our use of technology. Working upon observations of the physical body in motion, the company builds its norm-breaking productions that explore time, space, objects, and the relationship between humans and their society. With its blend of dance, technology and art installation, Anarchy has in recent years been a frequent guest at international arts and dance festivals, and was named as one of 2016’s dance companies of the year by the German dance magazine Tanz. Their 2019 production The Eternal Straight Line was nominated for the 18th annual Taishin Arts Award.

Chieh-Hua Hsieh is an artistic director of Anarchy Dance Theatre. Hsieh’s works are composed of a special texture derived from his background in architecture, possessing strong structural characteristics—a creative perspective combining time, space and energy. Notable choreographic works include The Eternal Straight Line (2019), Second Body (2015) and Seventh Sense (2011), all of which feature a strong element of interactive dance performance. In addition to receiving great public acclaim, his works have also been featured at numerous prominent international festivals, including Ars Electronica, TodaysArt Festival, and George Town Festival. The dance-installation series You Choreograph and Exercise done in collaboration with fellow choreographer I-Fen Tung and Ko-Yang Chang, further pushes the boundaries of expression in dance beyond conventional “performance”. In addition to his choreographic work, Hsieh also served as the director for the opening ceremony of the 2017 Summer Universiade.

I-Fen Tung is a choreographer and curator who facilitates exchanges among emerging interdisciplinary artists in Taiwan whose practices engage with the performing body. She has curated performance programs for major public arts festivals and worked as a choreographer and movement coach in theatre and musical productions. She was an artist-in-residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris and a visiting artist at Colorado College and The George Washington University. Her works have been nominated for the Taishin Arts Award; in 2013, she co-created and performed in Dear John, which received the 12th Taishin Arts Award.
From 2011 to 2019, Tung developed interdisciplinary works exploring sound, objects, and the body, presented internationally. Since 2015, she has collaborated with Chieh-Hua Hsieh on the intergenerational dance installation You Choreography, presented in museums and festivals worldwide. Her works include My Body, My History (2021) and its exhibition adaptation for the Taiwan Biennial (2023).
In 2024, she presented Three Dots at the Toronto SummerWorks Performance Festival and My Body, My History – States of Being at ArtsCross Taipei. Since 2021, she has co-developed M(Other)HOOD with Berlin-based artist Scarlet Yu, exploring motherhood and relational ecologies. She is a full-time lecturer at the University of Taipei and co-artistic director of Fist & Cake Production.
